According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, almost half of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities on Halloween night in just 2012 involved a drunk driver at an astounding 48%. This is why you must always be aware of the danger.
For trick-or-treaters, the tips are obvious. For one, you should always stay extra alert when you are crossing the street, as with any other night. You should also wear bright, reflective clothing as well as adding reflective tape to costumes and treat buckets because of the risk of not being seen by drivers sharing the roadways. You should also bring a flashlight so you can see and be seen at night on Halloween.
Of course, there are some tips for attending parties and hosting Halloween parties as well. Designate a non-drinking driver before you make plans to go to a party or save the number of a local cab service in your phone. You never want to believe you are being forced into a desperate situation to get home, and decide that you are going to drive yourself after you have been drinking.
